3D Printing Farm led by Holland Rotarian Delivers PPE
Rotarian Charles Elwood wondered in March if he could build a small 3D Printer farm to bridge a gap in available personal protective equipment. Prior to the emergence of COVID-19, Charles was already involved in teaching 3D printing to local elementary school students.
A week after his initial curiosity, Charles and a team of volunteers organized 191 printers to join forces. The group was named "3Dc19." By the middle of April, over 400 3D printers had joined the fleet. 3Dc19 has now created over 18,000 face shields and "ear savers" for front line workers to date.
The Noon Rotary Club of Holland has lent their support to this project and is involved in organizing volunteers. But continued financial support is needed to bring in more raw materials for the printers.
